A Little Field Trip… and a Shout-Out

Locust Grove Nature Center I am constantly amazed by how many great things there are to do in the DC area!

And thanks to our wonderful parks system, they are by and large- FREE!

I recently found – The Locust Grove Nature Center and it’s right off Democracy Blvd. in Bethesda!

You walk over a little bridge into the Nature Center area and there are lots of things to play with and see, they even have a butterfly garden!

I found this place through Fun and Learning, a great mom blog about things to do in Montgomery County.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I’ve driven by the little sign hundreds of times and not noticed it.  I’m so aware, it scares me!

It’s at 7777 Democracy Blvd., right past Montgomery Mall…  who knew?

Well, Fun and Learning did, check out the link above to read her in-depth review of this great little nature center!!

ENJOY!

I’m Cutting Tags Off Pillows… And Other Crazy Stuff

pillows     I’m still adjusting to my new life as a mother-of-a-child-who-goes-to-school-til-3pm-every-day. It hasn’t been a whole week yet.

I’m decluttering and organizing, as I LOVE TO DO.  And you know what I did yesterday?

I REMOVED THE ‘DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG’ TAGS FROM PILLOWS!  It makes life a little easier when changing sheets, it’s a little neater, and empowering… A LITTLE empowering, but empowering none-the-less.

Man, what new ‘efficiency-increasing’, fly-in-the-face-of-convention act will I perform today?  Who knows?!

I’m off to organize our art-supply-station…

wiggle-room I’m giving a much deserved ‘Shout Out’ today to Wiggle Room in Bethesda.

Wiggle Room is a maternity and children’s consignment boutique!  It carries:

  • Children’s clothing, top labels size newborn – 6 years
  • Maternity clothing (hip and designer lines)
  • Children’s gear such as strollers, baby carriers, bouncy seats, high chairs
  • Nursery accessories
  • Selected toys and baby gifts, with a focus on eco-friendly/nontoxic products

I’ve shopped at the store and consigned with this store- they are great!

It’s under new ownership and has now EXPANDED!

I was just in there and the store looks great.

Check out the Wiggle Room website–  they even have a new ‘Wish List’ tab where you can ask them to be on the lookout for a certain piece of clothing, for example, “I’m looking for a blue boy’s blazer” or “a purple dress in a size 12 months.”

ReDuce.  ReUse.  ReWear.     cool motto, huh!

Enjoy!

pencils     Well, It’s Official!

After the first day: my son has decided he likes Kindergarten,

and that he will finish grade school,

and go to high school,

and go to college!!!!!

(He had been undecided about college before.)

**  But, as of today, he wants to go to college close by so he can still live with Daddy and me.

That’s fine.

We’re making progress… Yey!

My Son Started Kindergarten Today

books      My Son started Kindergarten today. I dropped him off about an hour ago.

He’s wearing a uniform.  His lunch is packed.  And I’m not picking him up until 3pm…

Sounds like a lot for a 5-year-old…

But he barely turned around to say bye as he entered his classroom, due to his excitement.

Now I’m the one who has to hold it together.

This is the first day of the rest of my life.

graphic_marctrain     School doesn’t start for us until next week;

If you are like us and looking for something to do-

check out a train… in Kensington!

Go to Black Market Bistro in Garret Park for lunch=

The train goes right by!  The train tracks are right there!

This is so much fun for little ones!

As always, be safe, there is no safety rail by the train tracks.

Trains go by at least 2 times an hour.

Enjoy!
