Flu Shot   We’ve all had it here, and we’ve come out the other end.  No one wants to hear gory details, so here is my brief advice:

* If your child runs even a slight fever, take them to the doctor*

My son ran a slight fever, I took him to the doctor, we got Tamiflu, he felt better in hours.

Disney Books are now Online!

My last post was about Disney On Ice. This is completely separate Disney news- and very good news at that!

Disney has put it’s HUGE Library of Books online, for the 1st time ever!

What’s even better is that there are no games and mass advertising on this site,

it’s just books.

Your child ‘turns’ the pages; they can be read to, or read themselves.  They can move their ‘pen’ over a word to get the pronunciation, or even the definition.

I LOVE this idea!

But- this is not free.  I believe it is reasonable, however.

Go to Disney Digital Books, and see for yourself-

You can get a month subscription for $8.95 (this is for up to 3 children) or an annual membership for $79.95 (also for up to 3 children).

You can also go to Digital Disney Books and get a FREE look at the site right now

AND read 7 books for FREE.

Again, I love this idea=

The magic of Disney + reading= Priceless

‘Flashdance’ Does Not Age Well…

Flashdance Um Yeah, if you are in mind-veg mode, flipping around channels, while reading and tweeting and surfing the internet at the same time, and you come across Flashdance, and think,
“Flashdance! I loved Flashdance! ‘What a feeling!…’, I’m watching this!”

Do yourself a favor and flip the channel… or just turn off the TV.  Those are minutes of your life you will never get back.

I’ll just remind you:  Flashdance came out in 1983, yeah, 1983.  Nothing from the ’80’s really ages well, especially from the-EARLY ’80s-Flock-of-Seagulls-kind-of-hair-era.

I know leg-warmers are coming back in style (God knows why?!),

but leg warmers weren’t that cool the 1st time around (and I was in a ballet company).

Again,

relax in the evening, watch a silly show, surf the internet, or better yet- read a BOOK :)

Just don’t linger if you see Flashdance on TV… it really doesn’t age well.

Total Bliss: My First Trip EVER To Target… BY MYSELF!

Target Logo   Where are the words?  How does one begin to explain bliss?

A calmness, an unhurriedness (I don’t think that’s a word- but it should be)…   I just took my first trip to Target by myself… I mean EVER!

I had time to look for things,

I made a list,

I stocked up paper supplies for the house- toilet paper, paper towels, napkins (Paper supplies are always less expensive at Target)!

I bought myself a new curling iron: I’ve been meaning to do that for MONTHS!

I found a great pair of pajama pants that I ACTUALLY GOT TO TRY ON!

I bought my son a polo shirt with Bears on it (his favorite animal) for $7.99,

I saw 3 moms I knew there!

I told 1 of them that it was my first trip to Target By Myself, to which she smiled and replied,

“Enjoy!”

I was literally= giddy.

It’s the little things in life, isn’t it?

Go To The Beach This Time of Year!

Bethany Beach Doesn’t this look idyllic? It was.
This past weekend we spent at the beach! It was beautiful weather. Wonderful friends of ours gave us the keys to their beach house and we had a fantastic time.
Consider going down to the Eastern Shore this time of year- Bethany Beach, Dewey, Rehoboth Beach;
things are still open, the weather is nice, and every shop is having a sale.
And rates are much less than ‘high season’.
Consider it for the spring too-
It’s a short drive from DC and a nice ‘getaway’.

BONUS: There are outlets in Rehoboth and right after the Bay Bridge :)

Quotable Friday     Another Friday!

Today, a great quote by Robert Browning, brought to my attention by that fabulous-

mom, mom-blogger, teacher, all-around-cute-mom,

Amy from Teach Mama.

“Grow old along with me. The best is yet to be.”
Robert Browning

And how appropriate?  This weekend my husband and I celebrate our anniversary!

We’re all busy raising our children, let’s not forget our spouses.

I’m Cutting Tags Off Pillows… And Other Crazy Stuff

pillows     I’m still adjusting to my new life as a mother-of-a-child-who-goes-to-school-til-3pm-every-day. It hasn’t been a whole week yet.

I’m decluttering and organizing, as I LOVE TO DO.  And you know what I did yesterday?

I REMOVED THE ‘DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG’ TAGS FROM PILLOWS!  It makes life a little easier when changing sheets, it’s a little neater, and empowering… A LITTLE empowering, but empowering none-the-less.

Man, what new ‘efficiency-increasing’, fly-in-the-face-of-convention act will I perform today?  Who knows?!

I’m off to organize our art-supply-station…

Visit Wiggle Room in Bethesda

wiggle-room I’m giving a much deserved ‘Shout Out’ today to Wiggle Room in Bethesda.

Wiggle Room is a maternity and children’s consignment boutique!  It carries:

  • Children’s clothing, top labels size newborn – 6 years
  • Maternity clothing (hip and designer lines)
  • Children’s gear such as strollers, baby carriers, bouncy seats, high chairs
  • Nursery accessories
  • Selected toys and baby gifts, with a focus on eco-friendly/nontoxic products

I’ve shopped at the store and consigned with this store- they are great!

It’s under new ownership and has now EXPANDED!

I was just in there and the store looks great.

Check out the Wiggle Room website–  they even have a new ‘Wish List’ tab where you can ask them to be on the lookout for a certain piece of clothing, for example, “I’m looking for a blue boy’s blazer” or “a purple dress in a size 12 months.”

ReDuce.  ReUse.  ReWear.     cool motto, huh!

Enjoy!
