sledding

Well, the impossible has happened.
Pigs must be flying,
And Hell must be frozen over…
because-
my son is able to SLED down this HUGE mound of snow in our flat front yard,
thanks to the BULLDOZERS, yes, BULLDOZERS that plowed our street and covered every front yard with literally, walls of snow.
Everybody’s yard, lawn and landscaping is shot…
But that is another post, for another day…

The kids on our street are happy !

I’m done with you, snow.

Stop Saying North Dakota Gets This All The Time!

Washington DC Area.

Here we are in our 2nd blizzard WITHIN a week.

I have lived here all my life and cannot remember EVER getting this much snow.

We have survived a power outage, and my laptop hard drive breaking (FYI- don’t let your children put magnets on your laptop… yes, I’m serious).

I’m content with the exception of 1 thing-

I wish commentators and reporters on TV would stop saying things like,

“Ya know, people in say, ‘North Dakota’ get this all the time.”

MY RESPONSE:

“Yes, I know they get a lot of snow.  But we usually don’t.  And people in North Dakota have the right tools for snow removal and survival.  Even in Cleveland they have whole departments set up for snow removal, we don’t.  Everyone has a 4-wheel drive in North Dakota, I think it may be a state law even.  Not everyone here has a 4-wheel drive…like us for instance.”

Bees     The ‘Be With Me Playseum’ is now open in Bethesda!

I visited the playseum on Friday before it’s Grand Opening… and it’s GREAT!

It has all different ‘areas’… a grocery store, a radio station, the solar system, a stage,

a grandmother’s attic and more.

Each area has activities and books, and you can play with your kids

or sit and get a cup of coffee and watch them have fun!

What a great idea?!

Admission is $5 a person-

They have adventure areas ranging for 9 months- 14 years old.

Song and Story times daily-

The playseum is open Monday thru Saturday-

9:30am – 6pm.

It’s on Wisconsin Avenue, in the heart of Bethesda,

right next to the Orvis Store, on the lower level!

301- 807- 8028

It’s truly a nice ‘destination’ with your kiddies

Enjoy!

H1N1 Update For DC Area

Flu ShotNew shipments of the H1N1 flu vaccine have arrived to the DC area.

SO, if you haven’t checked with your doctor recently, it’s a good idea to check with them now.

My son got the vaccine a few days ago in his doctor’s office.  Our pediatrician had previously only allowed very young children to get the vaccine (babies).  But now has opened up the vaccine to all children in the practice, due to a big shipment they just got of the vaccine.

I have also been hearing that other people have been finding outlets to get the vaccine…

Please check with your doctor!

** Montgomery County has now scheduled more vaccination clinics- BUT there are still restrictions as to who can get it **

Here is the Montgomery County H1N1 Info Site.

Stay Healthy!

Christmas tree It’s beginning to look a lot like… !!

Well, right now it’s been raining for 2 days so it doesn’t look like a lot of anything outside my window.

BUT- THIS WEEKEND is a different story!

My FAVORITE Holiday Bazaar is on Saturday.  It’s the St. Jane de Chantal Holiday Bazaar from 9-6!

This is the Mac-Daddy of all holiday Bazaars, and I kinda consider myself an expert…

I love holiday bazaars and have gone to many.

Note:  My son goes to school here; that being said, this holiday bazaar is just ‘known’ for being great.

They start lining up vendors in JULY!

So here’s the info- Great shopping, great parking, food, chances to win decorated Christmas trees..

WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE?!

Check it out- I start my Christmas shopping here every year and always find great, unique stuff!

___________________________________

The annual St. Jane de Chantal Holiday Bazaar will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, from 9am-6pm at

St. Jane de Chantal school,
9525 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, conveniently located off Beltway exit 36.

Admission is free and there is plenty of off-street parking.
This Holiday Bazaar features over thirty independent vendors selling unique, quality merchandise including original art, personalized items, jewelry, stationery, glass, children’s clothes and much more.

New this year, our Bazaar will feature sihlouette artist Anne Leslie, who will be available to create timeless, handmade portraits. We are also pleased to announce the return of American Plant.

Come check out their gorgeous decorations and shop their boutique!

I’ll see you there!

The Cabin John Park System- Really is That Cool!

Locust Grove Nature Center     Looking for something to do?  Just take a gander at The Montgomery Parks website!

I have lived here all my life and am still amazed by how many
Park Trails there are,  (6 miles of trails in the Cabin John Regional Park ALONE),

and Historical Sites to see.

There is SO MUCH right here to do For FREE!

Coming up?  The Train at Cabin John has a ‘Not-so-Spooky’ train for little ones leading up to Halloween

And Montgomery County is opening its 5th Dog Park right now in Bethesda! Who Knew?

What prompted this post?  We found a wonderful, kid-friendly trail, clearly marked, right off of Bradley Blvd.  It’s part of the Cabin John trail system.  It even tells you- 1.2 miles to River Road, 3.7 (or something like that) to Macarthur Blvd.

And the website IS fantastic- tells you EVERYTHING there is to do!

ENJOY!
