I’ve actually just watched both movies and I prefer Jake Ryan to Blane.
But I think I would pick Farmer Ted than Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles.
Farmer Ted is a really funny and cool kid who is more intriguing than Jake Ryan.

I LOVED 16 Candles and I LOVED Jake Ryan. I always wanted to find a “Jake Ryan” for myself. And one day I did! Or rather he found me. I was dancing with my friends at Senior Bar in college and was tapped on the shoulder only to look up and see…Jake Ryan. Well, it wasn’t really Jake Ryan, but he sort of looked like him…and he was asking me to dance. And we did. And he walked me home to my dorm and we sat in my 24 hour lounge (because I went to Notre Dame where they had single sex dorms and boys were not allowed upstairs after certain hours)…so we sat in my 24 hour lounge where boys were allowed and we talked until sunrise. And years later, I married him. I married Jake Ryan….well, MY Jake Ryan. His name, as you know Nicole, is Tim…but he’ll always be my “Jake.”

“You like Jake?! Jake’s my boy!” Jake Ryan definitely! What teenage girl didn’t have a crush on the popular senior. And then to have him want to go out with you. That was my idea of a dream date! My husband teases me about Jake to this day.

I have to agree with you. But then I’ve never understood Andrew McCarthy…for years I thought he was gay. Not sure how that’s relevant…just sayin’

well i liked blane better…lol.He was dreamy. i thought jake ryan was a jerk. I hate those guys that look too perfect.
